Regional Client Relations Manager

 

Reports to: National Director of Marketing and Client Relations.

 

Customary Work Hours: Exempt Position.

 

Role:

Advise and support the regional offices, practice groups and individual attorneys in their client development and client relations efforts, including:

 Areas of Responsibility:

  • Work with practice office Managing Shareholders, Office Administrators and individual attorneys to develop and implement marketing plans for each office including goals for office, potential programs, necessary budgets.  Research on regional market trends and client development opportunities.
  • Coordinate public relations activities (with assistance from Director and PR Firm/manager), including drafting local press releases, developing contacts with local media and pitching articles to relevant publications.
  • Work with the Proposal Manager to develop proposals for local attorneys and assist in gathering information about expertise and representative work in the region.  This begins with the opportunity assessment with the attorney (go/no-go decision)
  • Help attorneys prepare for client development presentations including identifying appropriate collateral, research and other materials
  • Provide relevant content for the firm’s intranet and internet websites including marketplace.
  • Provide coordination, direction for and oversight for regional seminars and conference sponsorship.  This includes serving as the key contact point for attorneys, the marketing department and the Firm.
  • Oversee the enhancement of regional input into the firm’s database to ensure that the centralized database is current and meets the needs of local offices.
  • Provide client relations orientations for new attorneys and staff giving an overview of the department roles and responsibilities, a walk-through Marketplace and intranet page, intranet and various collateral materials. 
  • Provide input into the development of firm marketing materials and ensure that offices within the region have the necessary client development materials available to them.
  • Undertake national/firmwide projects as assigned, according to ability and capacity. 
  • Utilize the expertise of the national corporate staff in a consultative and collaborative manner.
  • Serve as the liaison between Client Relations and regional and/or specific practice group attorneys.
  • Counsel and guide attorneys with marketing/business development decisions.  This may include assessing potential for direct mail or seminar opportunities, proposal feasibility assessment for example.
  • Serve as the information resource for the markets they support and proactively seek information from others within the marketing department.
  • Individual should be a proactive, independent thinker whom is action-oriented and sensitive to both local market needs and overall Firm direction.  This may include recommending against certain programs to attorneys and providing alternative ideas.

  • · Must have professional services background, law firm and multi-office experience preferred
  • · Minimum of five years marketing experience.
  • · Ability to work independently and prioritize projects.
  • · Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • · Ability to handle confidential matters.
  • · Ability to travel to regional office locations up to 35% of time
  • · Ability to interface with all levels of management and effectively direct attorneys and staff.
  • · Must be detail orientated.
  • · Computer skilled in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and database programs
  • · Strong aptitude for learning.
  • · College degree preferred.
