Chapter History
As the Legal Marketing Association's first and oldest chapter, we have a long tradition of helping our fellow members through a variety of ways.
Among our recent accomplishments, we are especially proud of the following:
- In 2008, we hosted our second annual Chicago Chapter Your Honor Awards program.
- In 2007, LMA Chicago hosted our biennial Midwest Conference, featuring more than 20 speakers from many diverse areas and backgrounds. Our keynote sessions featured:
- Paul Gazzolo, President of World Book, Inc.
- Mike Welch, Professor at Loyola University Chicago’s Graduate School of Business
- William J. Flannery, President of The WJF Institute
- In 2006, we announced our inaugural Chicago Chapter Your Honor Awards program in conjunction with the annual winter social. At the award ceremony held on February 15, 2007, Chicago area law firms were recognized for excellence and innovation in categories such as Advertising, Web site and Electronic Media, Marketing Collateral, Business Development and Public Relations, in addition to the prestigious "Best in Show" award.
- In 2005, LMA Chicago hosted our biennial Midwest Conference, which featured well-known author and Northwestern University Graduate School of Business professor, Don E. Shultz, presenting the conference's keynote speech on integrated marketing communications.
In 2004, we launched an initiative to bring monthly educational programming to legal marketing professionals in Indianapolis and surrounding areas. Since its inception, we have doubled our attendance at these programs and have seen an increase in the number of new members who have joined the chapter from the Indianapolis area.- In 2003, the Legal Marketing Association honored LMA Chicago with a Your Honor Award as "Chapter of the Year" recognizing its pro bono services partnership program with the Chicago Bar Foundation.
This program teamed individual chapter member marketing professionals or marketing departments with local pro bono organizations that could not afford marketing personnel. The participating non-profit organizations serve the interests of the disabled, elderly, indigent and others in Chicago. Chapter members provided much needed counsel and support to these organizations in the areas of marketing, communications, fundraising and public relations. This honor was a direct result of the desire and passion to serve our profession for which the chapter is known. The program's success is a shining example of the dedication, commitment and volunteer spirit of our membership.
