Ms. Abernethy is the national marketing director of Deloitte Financial Advisory Services LLP (Deloitte FAS), a multi-million dollar practice with more than 1,100 employees across the U.S. With nearly 20 years of experience in sales and marketing, Ms. Abernethy develops strategic, integrated marketing campaigns and leads a national team of marketing professionals. In addition to overseeing the practice’s public relations, direct marketing, thoughtware and web development and advertising efforts, Ms. Abernethy actively engages in cross-selling of Deloitte FAS services to help grow the practice’s Forensic & Dispute and Advisory service areas. Most recently, she launched Deloitte FAS’ Transactions & Business Events Dbriefs webcast series, which has been viewed by nearly 17,000 attendees to date. Ms. Abernethy also substantially grew external awareness of the practice by increasing Deloitte FAS media placements by 70 percent in two years. This includes media stories in The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, USA Today, Reuters and CNBC. Prior to leading Deloitte FAS’ marketing efforts, Ms. Abernethy was a leader in the national marketing group for Deloitte Tax LLP. She also launched a nationwide client awareness campaign that brought Deloitte Tax LLP recognition as one of the nation’s top tax practices. Prior to joining Deloitte Tax LLP, she served four years as a vice president of sales and marketing for a leading national telecommunications provider, increasing sales by 50 percent in six months and helping the company achieve a #12 ranking in Inc. magazine’s list of 500 fastest-growing privately held companies. Prior to that, she worked as director of corporate communications for an online dot.com start-up and began her career as a marketing manager, rising through the ranks of a major investment house in various capacities. Ms. Abernethy holds a B.S.B.A in marketing from Suffolk University.
