The Zen of Law Firm Rankings

Join us for our first-ever joint program with the Association of Legal Administrators’ Central Florida Chapter.

Law firm marketers know firsthand that surveys, rankings, directories, and lists are a daily part of their marketing responsibilities. But in the midst of handling marketing duties such as public relations, advertising, seminars, mailing lists and so much else, how is a marketer supposed to manage this ever-growing list of lists?

This presentation will cover best practices for staying on top of the number of lists, knowing which lists are most relevant to your firm, how to most effectively prepare a submission or nomination, and how to make the most of your wins.

With special guest speaker

Vivian Hood
Jaffe Associates, Inc.

As Vice President in the Public Relations group at Jaffe Associates, Vivian Hood has developed and managed senior-level PR and communications strategies for national and international law firm clients for more than ten years, garnering success and increased exposure in high-profile news outlets.

Vivian's efforts have placed her clients in a range of print and broadcast media, from national publications, to diverse trade papers, to local and regional print and broadcast news media.  Her talents in planning and implementing inventive media relations strategies have fostered client stories in diverse media such as the Wall Street Journal, Associated Press, Bloomberg, National Law Journal, Legal Times, L.A. Daily Journal, the Washington Post, the New York Times, Portfolio Media, Canadian Business, E-Commerce Times, Chemical Week and NPR, among many others.

Her extensive media relations experience ranges from litigation PR, to delivering firm news, to crisis communications and counsel, to placing expert sources on current news.  Her ability to quickly grasp legal issues and parlay critical messages into layman’s language wins praise from clients.

Vivian's public relations skills also go beyond media relations. She has placed bylined articles in targeted national and industry trade publications, secured speaking engagements, managed spokesperson media tours, arranged press briefings with CEOs, written and designed brochures and newsletters, produced videos, and conducted grassroots research and one-on-one surveys.

Prior to joining Jaffe Associates, Vivian was a public relations consultant with her own company, servicing local businesses, public relations agencies, and corporate entities with environmental, health, business, and computer issues.

Earlier in her career, she worked at Ketchum Public Relations where she managed communications programs for Fortune 100 companies including Dow Chemical and Bristol-Myers Squibb.  Her work on nationally recognized programs promoting recycling in our national parks and providing environmental education for high schools around the country helped to win two Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Silver Anvil awards, including the distinguished "Best of," in recognition for outstanding public relations activities.

Vivian holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from University of Maryland, specializing in public relations and advertising.
