What is a "typical" day for you?

Reading and responding to e-mails and voicemails; checking in with my boss a couple times a day to update him and get feedback on projects I am working on; meetings with my attorneys - from developing individual marketing/bus. dev. plans to working on client development activities; outside meetings regarding sponsorships or community projects the firm is involved in; attending events with my attorneys; following up, following up and more following up.

In one sentence, describe your job.

My job can be challenging and high-pressure, but it is extremely rewarding.

Why and/or how did you get into legal marketing?

I moved to Greensboro, NC from Washington DC with my now fiancé four years ago. I have a background in political science and PR/marketing.  I also have a little legal experience working as a legal assistant during the summers in college.  There was an opening online for a marketing coordinator position at a law firm and I applied because I thought I would be good fit with my work experience.

In your job, what is your biggest challenge?

Getting buy-in.  I always joke that I have to "work hard to work hard." When presenting new marketing initiatives I think the firm should implement, I've constantly got to "present my case" of why I think the firm should do it.  For example, I'll write up a proposal, make a presentation to the executive committee, or go around and garner individual attorney support - all so I can get approval to work on something.  By the time I get approval, I'm usually worn out!
