Each month our Membership Chair, Nadine Levin from the Boston Business Journal sits down with an LMA New England member to find out more about what makes them tick.
How did you get into Legal Marketing?
By accident - though I have usually been involved in some type of sales or marketing through most of my working life, I never did any work with law firms or the legal industry until now.
My cousin was working as a legal assistant at Tarlow Breed Hart & Rodgers a few years ago, and she broke her leg during the same time the firm was moving from the Financial District to its present location in the Back Bay. My favor of helping her out with the move grew into the larger task of actually assisting the entire firm, setting things up, some logistics, etc. Based on that, I was then offered (and accepted) a full-time operational role at the firm, including supervising the legal assistants and working directly with the attorneys and support staff. I enjoyed working at the firm, and when the marketing position opened up, I went after it - and I still continue in a significant operational role, as well (you learn to wear many hats in this business).
Biggest Challenge you face each day?
Getting the attorneys to do what they're supposed to do, and/or actually doing what they say they'll do…
