1.
How did you start working in/with the legal marketing industry? I got started in legal public relations almost three decades ago – well before PR was an accepted part of the law firm marketing and business development mix. My first job in PR was for an agency that represented law firms, and I quickly realized that this was what I was meant to do in life!
2. How do you describe your job to people outside of the legal industry? I assist professionals in gaining visibility and credibility to support their business development efforts – essentially helping them grow their businesses.
3. What’s the best part of your work and why? The best part of my work is definitely interacting with my clients and colleagues – a number of whom go back many, many years.
4. How do you deal with “impossible” situations? Communicate! Effective communication goes a long way toward resolving seemingly impossible situations.
5. If you were to build the “perfect” legal marketer, what skill(s) would they most need? Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a high level of organization are the keys to success. In the PR realm, being a news junkie is a must too.
6. If you could have any job other than what you currently do, what would that be? I love what I do, so I can’t imagine doing anything else. If I had to choose another job, I would love to be a foster mom to animals in need.
7. What are your passions outside of work? My non-PR passions include spending time with my husband and cats. I also love to take fabulous vacations – next stop: Antarctica!
8. What’s your favorite guilty pleasure? Desserts – particularly anything chocolate. I can’t resist chocolate éclairs with custard!
9. Why did you join LMA and is it the same reason you are still a member? I initially joined LMA to meet colleagues and develop friendships. Many of my friendships have expanded into business relationships that I treasure deeply. Of course, I’m still making fabulous LMA friends!
10. What’s your best LMA memory? I have so many great memories it is hard to choose. One of the top 10 has got to be the LMA national conference in New York, where I hung out with several LMA friends until all hours of the night/morning and laughed non-stop. Isn’t that what life is about?
